… I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.  Isaiah 42:16

I do not like when it rains!  Even more than rainy days, I hate driving in the rain.  Recently, as I drove home from church I encountered one of the worst rainstorms and lightening shows of my lifetime.  The visibility was horrifying, which made me feel like pulling over and waiting for the rain to dissipate.  Yet, that wasn’t my best option as my travel time would have been extended and it seemed the rain had no plans to stop.

I gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands, positioned my body straight in the seat, and tried to focus on the road ahead.  Unfortunately, I could hardly see and was afraid I would cause an accident.  I started to get nervous, but two things comforted me:

  1. One of my friends was traveling slowly behind me with his hazard lights on.
  2. The Holy Spirit was sitting in the passenger seat.  As I slowly crawled along Interstate 95, I felt as if I was drifting into the lane to my left.  How does one stay in their lane during this type of weather I wondered?  Then the answer came….“use the reflective lights on the road as your guide.”

This incident ministered different things to me:

  • Life will be filled with many dark and rainy days but God will always be with me.
  • Like my friend who followed to ensure I was okay I can rest assured that God is always with me and has promised never to leave nor forsake me.
  • Sometimes my future is unsure and I wonder if I am traveling the right path but God is with me and I should always use the Bible as my guide.
  • The Holy Ghost comes to comfort us through the darkest of situations.

Today, it doesn’t matter what obstacles you face. Remember to call on Jesus.  Allow Him to take residence in your life. the Holy Ghost was sent to be our Comforter! Have you received the Holy Ghost? – Make it a blessed day.
