Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

When I was a child I loved to hear the choir minister the song, “Living by Faith.” Today, years later as I reminisce on the words to that song two verses come to mind:

Job 13:15: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Daniel 3:17 & 18: If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

What is faith?  The dictionary defines faith as complete trust or confidence in someone or something; a strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.  To the believer, faith is the assurance that in spite of what comes our way we can trust God.   Some of us are disappointed about things that haven’t materialized in our lives.  Talk to God about your disappointments but do not turn away from Him.  God still hears and answers.  You might not have received the answer you wanted but trust Him that His time is perfect and He knows what is best you.  God is able to make the crooked path straight and He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above more than you can even ask.
